People are way more likely to buy something recommended by a friend than a product recommended by a total stranger. Some people need to feel like you are in their friend.

Part of building a relationship with others is to tell them something about yourself. Whenever someone joins my e-mail list I have an introduction telling my new subscriber about myself in the very first e-mail I send. Help people to feel you are real person. How people to identify with you.

It takes time to build a relationship with a person in real life and the same goes for building a relationship with people on your list.

Another thing you can do is to ask people what they need help with or what questions they. Responding to their questions and needs quickly is another great way to build rapport with your list.

Offer real value

Part of building a relationship with your list is to provide real value to them. If you provide real value to them you will set yourself apart from most other list owners.

But before you can offer them things are real value you need to determine what they want. Even if you know that they’re in the niche for online marketing you still don’t know enough about them.

Invite your subscribers to ask you questions and get help from you. Use these questions to help better understand the needs and wants of your subscribers.

The products to market should be centered around the needs and wants of your subscribers. Just don’t market to them too often. Most of what you send them should be of value to them.

Not everyone is a buyer

Another thing to remember is that not everyone is a buyer. There are many people who browse and lurk but will never pick up their credit card and purchase something.

Part of the trick is to build an e-mail list of buyers. If everyone on your list has bought something online in your niche in the past then you are way more likely to make money selling to them in the future.

The mythical one dollar per month per subscriber

If you are starting out with e-mail marketing you may have heard that it’s easy to make one dollar per month per subscriber. If you’re just starting out this won’t happen.

One dollar per month per subscriber is definitely doable but you need to take things one step at a time. Make a goal of five cents or $.10 per subscriber per month. Once you hit that up your goal by $.10 or so.

Understanding your subscribers needs and wants will help you choose better products that will convert at a higher rate. This will increase how much you make per subscriber per month.

The power of high-priced products

If you are promoting some product that pays you $7 per sale and your goal is to make $700 then you will have to sell 100 of these products to make your goal.

However if your product sells for $100 you only have to sell 7 of them.

Sometimes it makes sense to sell high-priced products.

Keep advertising e-mails short

If you’re sending out an e-mail blast to your list with a link to a product you are promoting then keep them e-mail really short.

People don’t have a lot of time and are rarely willing to wade through a long e-mail to find a link that you want them to click on.

Try to keep it short and sweet and to the point.

Doublecheck all your links

I have seen way too many marketers sending out e-mails with a link to a product for promoting and the link doesn’t even work! And then they send out another e-mail that says oops that last link did not work.

This one little mistake is very costly. So don’t do it. Doublecheck all the links in an e-mail before you send it to your list.
