Hey Nick,
You keep putting out great usable information. I have to admit I never thought of posting comments to YouTube videos as a way to generate traffic. It only makes sense doesn’t it, commenting at forums and blogs drives so much traffic why not videos?
Thanks Again
Thanks Scott!
Nick,’
I always enjoy all your post, they are real and nice ones.
I need to start applying some of the technics you teach as soon as possible.
Thanks
Yes applying them is critical!
Well done once again, Nick. I know that it can be hard for a lot of people to sort through all of the information out there about internet marketing, so it’s great to know that you’re there to give everyone tips for specific traffic sources like YouTube. Great job.
Thanks Mark!
Thanks for this post.I got great help from this.
I’ve been hearing about YouTube as a means to drive traffic to a website a lot recently and have started to consider creating my own videos. As a person that isn’t overly creative though, this seems like a difficult mission to me. How long does it take you to make a video from 1 – 4 minutes in length? Do you generate a lot of traffic from each to make it worth the time? Thanks again for another thought provoking post.
Once you get going it doesn’t take that long to create the videos. A four-minute video will take anywhere from eight minutes to an hour. Really depends on how much editing you need to do.
It also depends on how much preparation you need to do before you start recording.
I agree with Nick that the time taken varies, but having done dozens of screen casts over the last month I think that you’ll average around 40 mins. I found the real time is spent upfront deciding the “script” and prep’ing for the video.
I’d also recommend keeping it short, since the longer they are the more likely you’re to fluff something part way through.
I tend to “reshot” rather than try to edit.
Good points Dave. I find that a lot of my time is spent in prepping for the video.
nice traffic tips i will read more from your site some other day
Just when I realize that I am doing enough to generate traffic to my website, you come up with a novel way to increase traffic. I don’t really know how soon I’ll create a video. Maybe I should use my point-and- shoot digital video camera to do that. Thanks for the idea, Nick.
When I first started thinking about creating videos I was a little nervous. I have no training in video production, recording, editing, etc. (I am a software engineer by trade). But I just went out and did it and learned a lot along the way.
I believe video has fantastic potential that we have not yet seen.
Hi Nick,
I like your articles, and I will try the method you teach ASAP.
thanks.
Sounds great. Let us know how it goes.
Hi Nick
Your post is really helpfull for newbie’s like me,I am liitle bit confuse that what type of videos will get traffic for my Tech niche site?.
Thanks for sharing nice information.
There are a few things you can do. You can make a video comments responses to videos related to technology.
Or you can make some videos to answer peoples’ questions.
Links in the video’s description are nofollow which is a bit of a bind. Can you add anchor text, and as they’re nofollow is there any point aside from prettying them up?
I’d feel uncomfortable with the last two items on the list to be honest. But that’s me
I don’t think you can add anchor text to the links that appear in the description.
Hi Nick, thanks for sharing these tips. I have a technology blog and I’m not sure if this will work. I’m planning to create a channel and introduce some gadgets and direct them to my site.
As long as the videos are useful it’s probably a good idea.
Thanks for these You Tube tips Nick. I find all your posts unusually useful. this is a very “generous” blog — you’re giving out a lot of excellent info.
Thanks. I’m glad that I can help you out.

“At the end of my video I mention that the viewer can get more information by clicking the blue link over on the right hand side. And that is how I get my traffic”
Why not enhance this graphically by having an arrow pointing to the right and keeping that frame for say 10-15 seconds before the video ends?
That’s an excellent point. Thank you for sharing.
Camtasia is a little pricey right now and I’m trying out Camstudio. Got a little learning curve but hopefully I’ll get it mastered and can start goind for traffic via Youtube.

Camtasia is really expensive but if you are going make money online then I think it’s totally worth it if you got the money to invest. Just make sure you’re really serious about creating videos. I try to make 5 to 10 videos each week with it.
Thanks for sharing, nice information, i will follow your guideline. Thanks you for sharing.

Hey Nick
Great information. You glossed over the fact that a VIDEO especially on the first page of Google will draw more attention than the first several text only results. Lets face it more people would prefer to view a video than read text.
I recently read a report that Google is putting emphasis on what they call “engagement objects” and reworking their algorithms to that end. So sites without video will not rank well.
So Nick you have done it again you gave so much value in this short blog post…
Thank You.

Very good point Scott. I think video does get people’s attention a lot quicker in part because it’s different than the links Google is showing. Part of it though is people are used to you watching movies and TV and videos and many people prefer that medium.
Great tips and explanations Nick, site bookmarked. I hope to learn more unique approaches to building traffic, as I am trying my best. It is growing, but still not growing as i’d like to,so the more I learn the better!
