I am about to release my first product and found this info very useful Nick, especially the part about the sales funnel.
I may now create a mini version for opt in purposes….thanks for the tip.
Glad I could help. Good luck with your product launch.
Hey Nick,
You’re right, you need your own product if you really want to make money online. You can do okay as an affiliate but I know you definitely will have way more success promoting your own stuff. Even though I know all this to be true I still haven’t created my own product. I keep using the excuse that I’m too busy running my business but that’s a lame excuse. What I need to do is just schedule one week where I do nothing else but work on creating my own product. It is very hard to basically shut down your business for a week but I think in my case that’s what I’m going to have to do to get my own product.
It will be worth it in the long run. I know this, I just have to do it.

Hey Nick,
You make a good argument for having your own product. It does allow many more opportunities. But I disagree that the only way to set up a sales funnel is with your own product. You can do that by capturing email addresses of your site visitors.

I think getting your own product is a very useful thing to do for bloggers and not just for the simple reason that it makes you money but there are some additional benefits that will help you massively..
1.Add credability. If people see that you are selling a product they automatically think you are an expert and good at what you do and will hang around and read and possibly buy your product.
2.It is a much better option than having ads on your blog. Ads always scream of desperation and if you can see a product at say 19.99 that is a lot of ads by comparison.
3.You’ll learn a whole new side of things, like you say the sales funnel!
Great ideas.
