I achieved my twitter goal for January

by Nick Stewart on February 1, 2010

I have been recently using twitter as a means to get traffic to my website and build my brand.

My goal for this year is to add 1,000 followers to my twitter following. This works out to about 85 new followers every month.

I wrote a post on this that outlines my 10 step process I am using to achieve my goal. You can read about it here:
http://www.twitip.com/how-i-will-add-1000-twitter-followers-this-year/

On January 7 of this year I had 170 followers and so I needed to add 85 new followers for the month of January. This would put me at 255 followers by the end of the month.

I check my stats this morning and I have 261 followers on twitter. Hurray!

What are your goals?

Do you have goals for this month or this year for your online business?

How can I help you achieve your goals?

What do you think?

I would love to hear your thoughts so leave a comment below!

Congratulations on achieving your goals. I took your lead and submitted a post to Twitip and since then I’ve gained over 200 new followers since then – and increasing everyday. My goals, are to increase my traffic by at least 30 people per day (or 900 per month) – somedays I make it and other days I’m not too far off – but by the end of February, I’m hoping to be holding steady.

Wow, 30 a day. What’s your strategy?

I try to make sure I’m posting something new everday (even weekends) and to make up for what Google doesn’t send, I use a combination of scheduling tweets, spread throughout the day during peak times (even throughout the night – because it’s day time somewhere). I make sure I share the love by tweeting other’s posts as well – they generally respond with reciprocation.
Then I visit high traffic blogs, post authentic comments that adhere to one of the 4 types, like those in this article: http://blog.affiliateshelpdesk.com/2009/06/4-types-of-comments-that-bring-more-website-traffic/
and I have my new posts automatically sent to Facebook. That usually does it! Usually brings me an additional 25-30 new people most week days. For some reason Wednesday is my peak day that sometimes makes up for the other days that I don’t achieve my goal.
Whenever I notice that my numbers are low, I just tweak my tweets and retweet them or I’ll visit some blogs and post some more comments.

Looks like you are doing really well! I just cracked the 100 follower hurdle. Now my attention turns to 200.

I am making progress but not always in the way I had hoped. I haven’t had anything published on Twitip yet this month. But my follower count is still growing.
