Just watched your video and agree completely especially with using Aweber as I’ve been using them now for almost 3 years and no complaints.
As far as building a list completely free of expenses, I think it can be done but I certainly wouldn’t recommend it. I know there are free autoresponders out there but let’s face it, how good can they really be. You already mentioned the CAN-SPAM Act as one reason to be careful but with all that Aweber does for a measly 20 bucks a month it’s a no-brainer.
I agree that a blog is the way to go as it’s completely free. Go out and put an optin form on your blog and give away a free product as a gift for visitors giving up their name and email address. People will still ask where do I get the free gift. Well there are tons of places. Just do a search for PLR ebooks and there are tons of ebooks you can get for free or for $5 or less. Use that as your gift and you’re off and running.
You mention you don’t like Giveaways but that’s even a way to get some good ebooks free that will get you started until you can write your own.
