I think that one important way to keep that community feel going is by returning to post more content quite often, even if it is with scheduled posts, rather than uploading everything all at once. The lack of advertising that you've mentioned is interesting. I found with one of my websites that I started to develop a lot more repeat visitors when I took Adsense off one of my websites. This meant that when I did then introduce a product it made more money than Adsense would have because of the increased traffic. It's hard work though! It's really easy just to set up a website with some great content, but then to forget about it and just leave it lingering in cyber space.
