To get websites listed with search engines a few years ago you would go to Yahoo’s submission page and fill out a little form with your site’s information. After submitting the form your job was to wait for Yahoo to get around to reviewing your site.
Most search engines had a similar process.
But all that has changed.
These days there is no need to submit your site to the big search engines. Instead search engines have crawlers that follow the endless network of websites linking to each other.
To be picked up by the search engines you need to have your site be part of this network of links. You need another site that get regular visits from crawlers to to link to you.
