I didn't have a problem with the extra field. Yours was really simple. I don't like the full captcha codes that are really hard to read. But anything that stops spam is a positive for me.
Can I just ask. What program do you use for your videos? I love the yellow circle and the animation when you click.
Thank you for the feedback about the captcha.
The service that I use for screen casts is called Camtasia. I think I'm going to make a quick video about this
Ya i like it alot nick. I like your commenting program vs alot of other users. For instance i hate how on most blogs all the comments are regulated to the fullest. This makes it harder for me to rank.
My approach is to allow most comments if they don't contain more than one URL. Every day I go through the latest comments and nuke any spammy comments.
To be honest, these extra field isn't an issue for me Nick. The math isn't that arduous, and I'd be more worried about you being spammed than ought else.
agree with the earlier comment about the openness. Well done.
Thanks for the feedback Dave.
Whatever may technology come up with, but it is always easy to differentiate genuine comments from the "spams" or those made to just get back-links. I believing in reading the article and then commenting only if I feel like expressing on the subject. Good find though, NQ!
They have actually become quite clever in their spam comments. They might say something like:
"you have a great article and I have much love for your blog but I need help with this [link]"
When I first started blogging and received my first comments I thought this was legitimate. I quickly found that it was spam.
