Thanks nick i never new what people used to make those videos. Now i do i might use it at one point
I love using Camtasia for my videos. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to make screencasts.
I've been making screen videos / screencasts since '94 and friends have been asking me about tips and tricks, so I started a blog called thescreencastwizard.com and with a corresponding youtube.com/screencastwizard . So far I have about 25 help videos online with more to come. Most of my videos are CC-BY licensed so feel free to reuse them.

I've been using Camtasia for a few months now. Still trying to get my head around the workflow, but have something which works and frankly is a lot more engaging that the screenshots it replaces. But I feel I have lost an opportunity for keywords which the original screenshots and supporting text provided.
That's the one thing that sucks about. It's not as good for SEO.
I think you should make a video series on how to use Camtasia and make videos to get traffic….Smile.

Thanks Peggy. Let me add that to my list.
I use the tried and tested method of "Print Screen" and "Ctrl+v" to MS Paint.
If that works for you great. I don't have the patience for it anymore.

Camtasia is just a tool for making videos. I think you can download a free 30 day trial and it is pretty easy to learn.
Getting traffic from videos uploaded to YouTube and other sources is a different matter which I've covered in some detail: http://nickstraffictricks.com/tag/youtube/
