I recently made changes to my blog and wanted to make sure that it’s still displayed correctly for different kinds of viewers. Not everyone has a large widescreen monitor and it’s important that people do not have to scroll horizontally.
Visitors’ Screen resolution information from Google Analytics
Using Google analytics I was able to determine what the various screen resolutions were for the people that visit to my blog. I then designed my blog so that it would work with the lowest screen resolution.
Looking at this table I see the lowest screen resolution is 1024×768. So I need to make my blog fit within 1024 pixels.
Browser Window Resizer Extension for Firefox
Because I use Firefox there are a number of extensions I can install to do nifty things.
The Browser Window Resizer extension is useful for testing different screen sizes. It accurately resizes your browser so you can test to see what a web page looks like in all of the standard resolution sizes.
Supports the 640×480, 800×600, 1024×768, 1280×800, 1280×1024, 1600×1200 resolutions.

Using this extension I was able to simulate what my blog would look like with a 1024×768 resolution.
Here is what it looks like:

I never would have thought of checking for screen resolutions because I have a big resolution. But A lot of people do not, and so I will have to check all my blogs and how they fit on the smaller resolutions.

we also should take care of the smaller screens Netbooks have. it is such a tiny screen, that sometimes reading a page becomes difficult.
According to my statistics almost no one reading my blog is using a netbook with a tiny resolution.
