I've mentioned this before, but videos are tough for SEO. Users apparently like them, but it's hard to get your keywords covered.
By way of comparison, I have two very similar pages which deal with similar issues for different databases, one is text and image based the other a video. Users have all said they like the video's. But I only rank for the text-based page. My strategy is possible to stick with the text-based to get found, but to offer a link to a video walk though on the page — basically, I'm going to have to do both.
I think having both is the answer like you said. I thought a lot about this post since I wrote yesterday and I probably need to include even more text in the introduction before the video.
