I use Yahoo! site explorer a lot. But the number of results can get overwhelming. How do you manage this and how do you manage monitoring links fo your top-10 competitors over time?
I also felt that trying to keep up with competitors was overwhelming. To be honest, I stopped worrying about competitors and started focusing more on build quality content.
@data quality tools
when using site explorer you can also download the first 1,000 links.
Import this into Excel and
== sorry, somehow the previous was posted before I finished ==
About the import into Excel,
open file, select 'delimited' in the import wizard, click next 2 times, click finish.
You get an Excel sheet with page title, url, size and format of the web page hosting that link.
You can now easily sort it or create pivot tables from it, so the data is more manageable for you.
Hey Nick,
Thanks for the response. Now that I know this, I am going to have to go figure out what micro formats and dublin core are (thanks to air conditioning, if that is his real name).
This is a great series of videos.
Thanks again & have a great day!
Why search for the phrase "Yahoo Site Explorer" in Google?
Do you know that you can do searches with Yahoo.com , too?
Very nice. I did not know this.
I haven't used Yahoo yet but it looks good I normally just go to the Google search bar and type site :www.something.com
Great video, Nick! I was unaware of this very useful tool. Looks like we have some work to do to get some more inbound links to our company blog. Thanks again!
