Redesigning Nick’s Traffic Tricks

As you can tell I am making some significant changes to my blog. I want to give it more polished look and feel.

Unfortunately I am not a web designer and it takes a long time for me to come up with a design that I think is really good.

More changes ahead

I am in the process of adding a few more graphics to my site. I’m thinking specifically about adding a small to medium-sized graphic to the top of every blog post.

One of the sites that I really like (and am using as inspiration) is copyblogger.

Right now my color scheme has a lot of green and I’m not sure if I like it or not.

I would love your feedback!

As I make changes to the site would love to hear your thoughts on whether you like them or not.

If you find any links that are broken or not working please let me know.

I am new to your blog so I don't know what it looked like before, but it looks nice now. I am a big fan of green and the color induces a feeling of being peaceful. I don't think it is too much at all. Good work on the updates seeing as you are not a designer.

Hey Nick,

Well, to be honest, I'm not a big "green" fan. Maybe toss a little blue in with it and it wouldn't be so…well…green! :)

I love seeing photos with blog posts. I'm visual, so it always helps me to have a picture.

I'm just a bit overwhelmed by the double sidebars, but that's just me. You have SO much great information that it definitely warrants two sidebars, but maybe put more Navigational Tabs at the top and less on the sides. I didn't even know you had categories down there on the right. :)

Well, that's my 2 cents worth, you know I'm one of your biggest fans and love everything you share. That's why I have your blog importing into my Fan Page, so my Fans can take advantage of your great info!!

Have a good one, Nick!

Personally I LOVE the new color and layout. I visit often and this is so much more crisp, clear and easy to navigate. I'd say it's a keeper!

It does look better.

I'm not a fan of green, but everyone had their colour. The boxes around the links can get overwhelming.

But, I think HubSpot said this: people worry too much about this and that in their layout, more than the readers. They should be more concered re content.

Thank you for your feedback about my layout. I think your website design really matters a lot, to a point. Once you get to a "good enough" point that it doesn't always make sense to make it a little bit better.

The Copy Blogger website has a pretty good theme for sure, although the only thing I dislike is the small space for the actual content, thats the biggest thing I dislike about the 3 column blog, is the small space it often leaves for the actual content. I would stick with 2 columns like you currently have it Nick.

Till then,

Jean

I agree. The three column blog layout feels a little crowded. But sometimes I just feel like I need three columns to display everything.
