Get A Free Copy Of My New Traffic Guide: How To Get Traffic To A New Website

I am currently writing a new traffic guide and it will be called How To Get Traffic To A New Website.

The purpose of of it will be to answer one simple question:  How do I get traffic to my new website?

What will the guide cover?

Some of the things I will be covering in the guide are:

  • how to get your website indexed by Google and other search engines
  • search engine optimization
  • creating a schedule and setting goals for traffic
  • traffic from twitter
  • traffic from stumble upon
  • offline traffic sources

How much will it cost?

I plan on charging at least $7 for this traffic guide. As time goes on I will probably raise the price.

Get a free copy of the guide

I’m curious to know if there’s anything else you think should be covered. If you have any ideas or suggestions please leave a comment below.

Anyone who leaves a comment with a suggestion will get a free copy e-mailed to them when it is finished.

When will it be finished?

I hope to have it done by the end of July. I might even have it done sooner than that but I’m not sure. I want to make sure that it is a rock-solid traffic guide and that I don’t miss anything.

I'd suggest something on the importance of making sure you name your pages correctly before you launch – I still get search traffic to pages that don't exist because I renamed them after they were indexed by Google. FAIL!

Good point. Another reason to use a blogging engine that takes care of this for you.

I am wondering why you didn't mention traffic from video sites.

You have quite some experience in this, so it should be included in the guide – at least as a brief overview with a link to this site and your promoting your Traffic Videos:

I'm going back and forth whether traffic from video sites should be included in this guide. You certainly can get traffic from YouTube and other sites like it. But I wonder if it's just too much information for someone with a brand-new site.

What do you think?

Reply

Orchid Flowers Help July 12, 2010 at 6:04 pm

Cover the basics with a page or two and refer to your product for more in depth information (one product promoting the other).

On the other hand, what is so difficult about video marketing when you compare it to other means of traffic generation? Creating Lenses, hubpages, linkwheels, stumbling pages, blog commenting guest and blogging etc. all take time and although they quickly become a routine, there is a learning curve.

Reply

Nick Stewart July 14, 2010 at 1:39 am

You're right. Video marking is not that difficult but it does require either a video camera or screen capture software like Camtasia. I think I will add a section on traffic from YouTube.

Orchid Flowers Help July 19, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Ideas for your future products / websites:

- Review site for video cameras

- eBook about screen capturing with Camtasia / camstudio etc and how to edit these videos – another 7$ guide which is easy to integrate into this site

LoneWolf July 14, 2010 at 3:54 am

You can also mention embedding as a way to build content.

Reply

Scott Thrall July 14, 2010 at 6:54 am

I think it is very important to include a section on YouTube traffic. And I say YouTube because most people are familiar with it, obviously there are other good venues.

There are several very good screen capture programs available, CamStudio is a good freebie.

To get started, which is the biggest hurdle for most, one can use widows media (if you have a newer windows based system) and power point. I know this is not perfect BUT it gets you moving and you can upgrade as you go…

I recently discovered your tips on growing a Twitter following and have checked out a few posts on your site. Thanks for the great advice!

Reply

Mariya July 12, 2010 at 6:09 am

One section I'd like to see you concentrate on in your traffic tips is on proper content curation — there are many ways to drive traffic to a site, but many of those just produce temporary traffic spikes. What I want to know is how to create and link content so that your traffic is persistent and your visitors are getting content that keeps them engaged and coming back.

Reply

Nick Stewart July 14, 2010 at 1:34 am

Good thoughts. So maybe a focus on long-term traffic?

Reply

Floyd July 14, 2010 at 2:43 am

Not so much a comment on the content, but i think you should cover sites such as blogs that can be modified easy as well as getting traffic to static websites

Reply

Andy July 14, 2010 at 2:59 am

This is a great idea for a paid guide Nick.

One thing that i think you missed is to create your own network of sites and friends to interlink . This can include social media too. I'm not talking about artificial linking but rather your social group of inter-linkers based on common interests. And this can include Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr etc.

We all have to get more social now. So if your friends are building sites we should help them out and get them guest posting or providing photos to our blogs and generally interacting as much as we can, then it is fairly easy to get traffic to new sites.

Alek July 14, 2010 at 3:11 am

To get traffic you have to have a good content on your website. Maybe to explain in detail how to create good content and especially what is DUPLICATE content, once you get traffic.

Happy writing!

Reply

Andy July 14, 2010 at 4:00 am

Alec,

Duplicate content is where you copy already indexed web content and re-publish on your site so it is not likely that you will outrank this content. This subject has been covered to death IMO.

Reply

JD July 14, 2010 at 3:22 am

I have done it all. I use social bookmarking, forum comments, web 2.0 sites, traffic exchanges (waste of time, lotso spam/junk,etc), etc. My best success hase been with keyword research and organic searches. But there is always something I did not know about so I am interested what you have to say.

Reply

Garnett July 14, 2010 at 3:27 am

Create a section or something anyways for non blog sites and whats the best way to get traffic.perhaps your guide covers more than bloggers traffic although.

Article directories can be used in 2 ways:

First, articles that link back to your own site (make sure you follow the guidelines of the directory) as they have high PR and can generate traffic.

Second, find great articles that fit into your niche to help build your own content. Try to get something that is written by a well respected writer in your niche and make sure to follow the syndication guidelines properly.

You could also touch on guest posting.

I would like to see info on the traffic sources that have really worked for you, even down to the specific social network sites that you use and what kind of results you have seen.

Then I would want the guide to be in PDF format, NOT Video.

It would be nice if it was in the format of Day 1 after your site is uploaded do this, Day 2 do this, Day 3 do this…… Even down to which article directories to submit how many articles to and which social bookmarking sites to use on that day.

This way it could be a true blueprint that one could just open up and follow or give to an outsourcer to follow.

If you do this, then I would think it would be worth much more than $7.

Thanks for all your time and information you supply to your list.

Jackie

Nick

you recently reviewed a book of mine and gave me a few good pointers .

The point i hope you make in the new book is that you need to earn your traffic by becoming a member of a forum, using social networking and writing articles. Tell your readers to avoid the traffic generation products and buying traffic as this simply does not hold any value to most people running a business online

Reply

RebeccaH July 14, 2010 at 5:08 am

I'm writing articles and using keywords and ranking on the first page but traffic is still slim after a month. Could it be the product? You could provide a comparison of two sites offering similar products and article information but one generates greater traffic. Why? Does it need PPC to jump start traffic? With all the products out there, are there some that truly can help drive traffic to a website? How do I get my website in front of people who are looking for my affiliate products?

Reply

Nick Stewart July 15, 2010 at 1:22 am

Good thoughts. Is it possible that rank high for the keyword, but few people are searching for that keyword? Email me with your site and keyword and I can take a look at things.

Reply

Noel Coburn July 14, 2010 at 6:53 am

Hi Nick,

I would be very interested in seeing some pointers relating to overall link building strategy for a new website. For example, starting from ground zero, how should you prioritise your link building activities? what activities will have the most immediate impact? what are the potential pitfalls of moving too fast? Is there an opportunity to have an initial bust of link building activity for a new site whereas a big jump in link building activities for a more mature site might give rise to suspicions of an offshore deal such as "200 inbound links for $10"?

Many thanks,

Noel

Hello,

Your ebook should cover the methods of getting FAST traffic to a site without risking/incurring the Google Slap.

I am a website flipper, well I am training to be, but I have realised that sites with no traffic sell for peanuts now. Hence I would love to learn a way to generate fast, constant/consistent traffic to a spanking new site. The traffic should potentially lead to sales, which will increase the overall value of the site.

I would also like it if the traffic is NO COST or LOW COST at most.

Thanks.

Here's what I'd love to see:

1. how to get backlinks that count

2. how to analyse your site traffic – what to look for, what's important to know to tweak for better results eg page views or whatever

3. there's LOTS of ways to generate traffic – which are the top 5 that work fast

Basically, a 'down and dirty' guide to get going fast and learn more later to improve. All I'm getting at the moment is comment-spam traffic!

Thanks, mate. Love the simplicity and factual approach in your material.

I would like to be provided with some ideas for actually keeping people on the site and encouraging them to share your information with others. I think getting traffic is half the battle, if you can encourage that traffic to stumble your site and/or recommend it to others through whatever social networking platform they use then you should be able to quickly gain momentum.

Thanks.

I'm not sure if this is a valid point or not but I would like to share that

Using the name section as keywords and the Website section to link to the site in comment boxes(like the one available here and i did) is considered as spam by google.

I'm also doing this because I'm very new to this world and just playing with opportunities.

By the way I hope this makes a valid(unique) point to the author as I'm doing this to get the book for free :D …… no offense

More I think I dont need to say this but just came in mind that you should/must write something about using softwares like Comment hut or Article writer softwares.

Thank you (longest comment i ever posted :D but first time from the heart :) )

Avoiding duplication, penalities an ineffective methods. A step by step plan of a serveral method campaign starting from when the site that you are promoting is complete and needs traffic and ranking. Thank you.

P.S. I just notice the title of your new book again. Hopefully this comment provided additional help anyway.

I have stopped using them as it seemed to take all my time up and got me nowhere.
Please could you give your thoughts on this subject in your e-book just for us newbies.

I was wondering if a forum for non IM such as niche marketers with pet or toy sites etc: could be formed where they could link to each others sites so if three people had the same topic person 1 could link to no 2 and 2 to 3 and 3 to 1 they would have back links without reciprocal linking
Did you understand that? I am not good at explaining what goes on in my head at times LOL!

I just read the page you pointed me to about Reciprocal linking, but I was not talking about that
I was thinking that instead of swapping links we do it like a round robin so no one has to link back to the person that links to them.
