I finally took the plunge and bought my first MacBook Pro last night. I have wanted one for a few years.
The best thing was when I took out of the box, turned it on, I didn’t have to spend 2 hours removing all the free trial garbage that comes with Windows. No free trial to AOL or Norton AntiVirus.
And I didn’t have to spend $50 on additional antivirus software (I prefer TrendMicro over Norton any day!).
I love how well the iSight camera integrates with iMovie and PhotoBooth. My HP laptop (running Vista) had a built camera but it didn’t play well with other applications.
I hope to use iMovie to improve the videos I make.

Hi Nick, interesting that you've bought your first ever Mac, I myself have never owned a Mac mainly due to the fact that just about everything is Windows dominated so I just thought it be best to stay with the most dominated thing out there. Still though, would be awesome to hear your experiences along the way with your new mac book.
Till then,
Jean
I plan on writing about my experiences in the next couple weeks.
Sounds great Nick, will be on the look out for that article

So jealous. I'm still in the wanting one, but look at the price, mode. This is my next "treat" though, esp since I think we'll find it so much easier to manage our media and photos with a Mac.
So far I love it!
Congrats on your purchase, Nick. I bought my first laptop a year ago and went with a plain old Dell Inspiron even though I did contemplate the Macbook. But I was worried about program compatibility in the future as most of my needs are Windows-based. Interested in reading up on your experiences with in detail once you've given it a good run.
I have wanted one for the longest time as well. I didn't know that it didn't come loaded with all the extras. When I got my last laptop I had free help desk so I got the guy to remote access and remove all the crud for me just so I didn't have to deal with it.
