4 Steps To Setup RSS

One of my readers asked,

Can you point me in a direction to get started with all this RSS stuff?

RSS used to be a pain to set up but now most blogging engines make it super simple. By default you have an RSS feed already created for you. All you have to do is figure out how to get people to subscribe to it.

Here are 4 simple steps to getting RSS set up.

1. Get a FeedBurner account

If you’re brand-new to RSS then you definitely want to sign-up for a FeedBurner account.

2. Encourage people to subscribe

People will never subscribe to your RSS feed if they cannot see it.  I like to put links to my RSS feed at the top of every page.

I use the WordPress plug-in WP Greet Box.

3. Analyze the traffic you get from RSS

Once you have some subscribers you can track which posts are the most likely to send you traffic. Video: How to get traffic by analyzing what your RSS subscribers like

4. Take it to the next level

Building a healthy RSS subscribership is one of the best ways to get return traffic to your website. What I love about RSS subscribers is that they just keep coming back and I don’t have to do anything except post great content.

Subscribe to my RSS

No post on RSS would be complete without an invitation to subscribe to my RSS:)

It's not a plugin. I manually changed my wordpress theme.
