Nick's Traffic Tricks

My Traffic Experiment With Facebook

I’ve been reading more and more about how to get traffic with Facebook and have decided to give it a try.

I have a theory about how to get ranked high in the search engines using Facebook but I want to make sure it works before I write a post about it.

I’ve put together a basic Facebook page related to traffic generation. If you have a free second please take a look at it and let me know how I could improve it. I don’t use Facebook very much and you guys probably have some great ideas.

I expect the experiment to take between a few days and a week to get some initial results.

I will be sure to let you guys know how it goes.

Hi Nick,

I am not much of a FB person myself, so I have not much experience in judging layout etc. Anyway, I think the wall page is a little bit cluttered and lacks some structure. Don't know if it is possible to redesign that.

Do you know if it is possible to make the links on the left go directly to your site instead of going to an anchor on the wall page?

On the photos page you could also place some snapshots from your best videos – i think that many people visit these photo pages to see who they are really deaing with and having some content there in addition to just a profile pic could be helpful.

Anyway, good luck with FB, and keep us posted on your progress.

I don't think there's anything I can really do about the structure of the page or making links go where I want them to.

Thanks for the tips about posting photos and videos. It's a really good idea.

I have a couple suggestions for you, hope they help. First you should visit this page http://www.facebook.com/username/ and you can change your facebook url from some crazy mess to something like http://www.facebook.com/Increase-Web-Traffic. Easier for people to remember and share by mouth.

Second tip is to check out RSS graffiti. You can set it up so the posts from your blog are automatically posted to your facebook wall. This is the best solution I'm aware of as it publishes a link with the title that goes directly to your blog. Check out my facebook page to see both of these in action: http://www.facebook.com/gearupandplay

Thanks Michael for the suggestions. I really want to change my url but I don't have the required number of visitors yet.
