Every day people ask me the same question: Nick, how do I get more traffic?
Traffic is not something you ‘get’; it is something you attract. I can get food from the store and I can get information from Wikipedia because I have control.
But traffic is a different story; people of their own free will have to choose to come to my website. I can’t go ‘get’ a bunch of people and force them to visit my website.
So I suggest we change one word in this question so instead of
Nick, how do I get more traffic?
it should be
Nick, how do I attract more traffic?
See the difference?
When you ask how you can attract more traffic you recognize that you are responsible for creating a website that people want to visit.

Nick, how do I attract more visitors?
Doing this will remind you that it is actual people with real wants and needs that are choosing to spend their time on your website.
Too often we think of website traffic as some sort of commodity that can be bought and sold like bread in a store.

Wow,Nick you really hit the nail on the head this time.
It is often said of Business: "Find a need and fill it" and ins't that what it really is?
Somebody invents and/or provides a product that is the soultion to a need?
When Employers look for employees,or Companies subcontract for some job to be done,in each case,it's a case of sombody providing "the solution."
Like you said" Provide what people want…" and they will come.

Did you ever read 'The Attractor Factor' by Joe Vitale? He describes how changing mindset creates more for you (ok, he mostly speaks money, but qualified visitors also mean money).
Also good read going into this direction is 'Motivational Marketing' by Robert Imbriale.
I haven't read those books but they sound interesting.
I like the change to the second one: "How Can I attract more visitors?" I like the term readers. But you're right. You have to remember that people are the ones reading your content, not just just a bunch of numbers.
Change the term to readers? I think it's a good idea.
It's just a wonder how one work can change the way with think. It's really all about our mindset.
