Start with on-page SEO. Think about the market that you are targeting. Are you writing with the keywords that they will be using to do web searches? You can use several different keywords tools to find related keywords. These can be either free (such as Google’s own keyword tool) or paid. Be sure to take a look at Google suggestions when you type in a keyword.

One of the six strategies mentioned was linking to high authority sites. I didn’t realise the importance of linking to high authority sites and the effect this can have on rank. I guess this helps Google define what your site is about. Also it helps build trust in your own site if Google already trusts the sites you link to.
Can any body help me out for making a fresh SEO strategy for a new website; through which we can get 3-4 keywords on top 10 results in Google in 3 months. Give me exact figure how many directory submissions, Bookmarking, articles, Blogs, classifieds, etc which things are necessary for this task, plz provide me these things in details?
There is NO exact figure. It all depends on your niche. What’s your niche?
I think my most valuable take away from the 6 on-page SEO strategies post is going to be the anchor text links to authority sites. I have been doing far too few of these links. I just hope that everybody isn’t going to get on this bandwagon again with all sorts of spammy plugins and stuff – then it will soon be spoiled again for all of us. I have already seen products that create authority site links within every post on your site.
Had to revisit this post again and checked out the link to neil Patels site (quicksprout com). Not only that the strategies he describes there are easy to implement and probably highly effective, the whole site is full of nuggets of SEO wisdom – Nick, thanks for pointing us in this direction.
