Now, if you don’t like to write a lot of guest posts, then don’t worry because you don’t need to write guest posts to get more traffic, however, it does help. Although, you don’t need guest posts to increase your blog traffic, it will reduce the amount of time that you are blogging without any readers. Most new bloggers will spend months if not years getting very little traffic and that is why you should utilize guest posts as much as you can.
But how do you find blogs to guest post for?
This is a question that many people ask, I know because every time I mention writing a guest post in an article I get at least one person asking where to find blogs that accept them. With that said, there are a couple ways to find guest posting opportunities.
Browse Your Favorite Blogs
The one way most people know about is simply browsing their favorite blogs to see who offers what. Some blogs out there will let you guest post for them without many restrictions, while others demand the world from each guest post. It is because of this that you should search for blogs that allow you to freely speak your mind while still providing the blogs readers with some great content.
When browsing your favorite blogs you will notice that some require you to register for an account, while others make you send an email. Either one of these will work because they both will get your guest posts submitted to the blog owner. What I would recommend, however, is that if you send an email to the blog owner with your guest post attached, you should first get to know that blogger. The best ways to get to know a blogger are through multiple email interactions, reading their blog posts and connecting with them on Facebook and Twitter.
Do A Twitter Search
Something that I have recently been doing is searching on Twitter for guest posting opportunities. The reason I do this is because it is faster than browsing hundreds of new blogs and it allows you to connect with other like-minded people.
How to search Twitter
This is very simple, once inside Twitter all you need to do is type in “Guest Posts” (without quotes) in the search box on the top of the page. Now, this will give you all the Tweets that have guest post in the title so you want to narrow this down even further. What I suggest is that you put your blogs topic in front of “Guest Posts”. For example if Nick wanted to search for a blog to do a guest post on he would type something like this, “Blog Traffic Guest Post” (without quotes). What this is going to do is give you all the Tweets with the words blog traffic guest post in them.
Once you pull this information from Twitter, you then have to go through it and click on the links to get to the different blogs. This is where you will find a bunch of new blogs to write for all having a topic related to your own blog. Now, once you have done this and you found the blogs that you want to guest post for, you will need to see how you can submit a guest post.

- Adam mentioned that you should contact the blog owner before you submit a guest post to them. In your email, ask them about their guest posting policy and what topics would be a good fit for their blog. This is critical when you have no relationship with them.
- Read through comments people are leaving and observe what questions people frequently have. Offer to write a guest post to answers those questions. For example, Adam noticed that many of my readers asked how to find blogs that accept guest posts and so he wrote a guest post answering that question.
- Utilize Google Alerts. It’s a free service that will email you everyday with a list of new sites that have certain keywords in them. For example, if you’re looking for dog related blogs to guest p0st on then you’d setup a Google Alert for the keyword phrase dog guest post.
- Only 10%* of blogs accept guest posts. So focus your energy on emailing blogs that have published guest posts because you already know they’re in the 10%.

I have a question for you:

But someone who is new to blogging can he/she still get a chance to write a guestpost?Is guestblogging not for the pros!!
I always had the idea that a guestpost from a new blogger will be rejected immediately what do you think?

Most bloggers are hungry for content that will wow their readers. Speaking from personal experience, I have virtually no interest in whether you are a veteran blogger or a newbie; I’m looking for content that will make my readers stand up and say Holy cow! This is why I keep coming back to this blog!! I crave content that my readers will ReTweet to their followers.
With that said, if you are new to the game you will have a lot more success guest posting for smaller blogs.
That’s what I thought Nick for a beginner it will be much easier to write a guestpost for smaller blogs.

Just like Nick said, you should start out with smaller blogs. However, I would still pitch your posts to bigger blogs because you never know if they will like what you are saying and publish your post.

I have not dived into guest blogging yet. But have been thinking about it. I was unaware of how customizable you can set google alerts. Thanks for the recommendations. I also need to work more with twitter and geting to know it, it is a great resource that I have failed to use.
As a blogger, you should spend some time with Twitter because it can provide a bunch of traffic to your site.

But…how much “Guess Posts” should one allow,though?
The reason I ask is I once signed with a free traffic service,where they required to list your blog,assign a guest poster account to them,then you posted your articles to other blogs through them and vice-versa,but since my blog was to do with internet marketing,I became rather concerend,when my blog was,daily filling up with Chiropratic Articles by the dozens and other atuff also.I’d sure never use that service again.The idea is good,if it can be kept to a rerasonable minimum.

I used to allow people to submit articles directly to my site but after I recieved 10,000 articles in a week I closed that. Now I only publish articles that meet my requirements and are sent to my email address.

The quality of the link will not be the same because a lot of blogs use nofollow links. Also, Google don’t count blog comment links as being extremely valuable like in content links.

This is most common issues with newbies as they believe that guest blogging is one the best way to generate traffic. But finding blog that accept guest post is not an easy too.

Honestly I do not trust guest blogging because some blogs have high PR but no traffic. I may gain PR juice but not traffic from them and I do not believe that it helps me in my SERP too.

Guest posts really help to kick start a blog. But accepting too many guest posts without writing articles by our own may let our readers down.

Agreed guest post is one of the best ways to drive traffic and generate quality backlinks. The only problem is its difficult to find blogs to guest post on for many industries (if one is doing a guest post on SEO, internet marketing, money making etc its easy to find a blog to post on but if one is doing a blog post on property management software, then what should be the way out considering there will be very limited blogs for this niche)
