you could let us know stuff like:

1. How long you have been marketing online
2. your online goals
3. Whats your personal best method of generating traffic

people reference others based mostly on their own self interests (go figure – humans argh..)
the video humanized you if that was your intent , I never heard of you until I pocked around WSO. So glad I did as it is my humble opinion you are set to do great things.

Hi Nick

I was going thru the books you read in 2009 and 2010. What do the numbers at the end of each book signify?

Thanks
Sundaram

Hi Nick, I love your blog and wish you could help me expand my own!
Besides that, I am interested in setting up my blogs to have a “Leave your comment” section under each entry. Would you mind looking at my blog http://www.voicelessonstogo.com/blog and letting me know which way would be best to do it? I would like to approve all comments first before they appear. But I would also like them to appear appropriately under their related blog and have it be easy for people to figure out how to comment. Thanks!

Just wanted to say hello and thank you for all the insightful insights into the world of SEO.

I am getting better everyday and have even managed to optimize a website to reach number 3 for the appropriate keywords. I am working on another site now and hopefully wil get to work on a 3rd website soon.

Cheers! You are a gem, Nick.

Hey Nick. I can’t find the page where I can ask a question so I am posting it here….I have been optimizing a UK website from India. Now when I Google the keywords on http://www.google.co.in the website shows on number 1 position but when I run a search for the same keywords on http://www.google.co.uk the website shows at number 5. Do you think this has anything to do with the website being optimized from India.?

Reply

Nick Stewart May 19, 2010 at 6:18 am

It could be. Or it could be that they’re a lot more sites competing that have been optimized for the United Kingdom. Really hard to say.

I’ve also been wondering about that and I think it’s because from what Google server the data is coming from. I believe they have serveers for the U.S., Canada, UK, China, etc.

Let’s say you’re from India and then go to Google.com, it seems you’re being directed to the nearest Google server to your IP address and then when you type in a search term Google serves up results more for your area. I believe they’re doing this so they can bring more targeted ads for adsense. Because when someone sets up an Adwords ad he has the option to choose which country to show the ads so Google needs to know where the query is coming from and they do it by the computer’s IP address. So this means that top 10 results from each Google server differs somewhat from each other.

I’m not from the U.S. so what I do is type in my search in Google and after I get the results I go to the URL bar and type in “&gl=us” where us is the country code. The results refresh and I should see results as if I’m sending the query from the U.S.

I’m still doing some research on this and all that I said are my observations and not 100% accurate as far as I can tell.
